Saturday, June 26, 2004 relishing>> Radiohead - Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd cover) Alright now the previous meaningless entry (that was a line from the movie Vanilla Sky by the way) was but a little sneak peak of what was coming up. And it looks like I am going to adhere to my rule of 2 ssmmelllyyyy beelllyy entries to 1 butter julie entry. :) Perplexed? Nevermind. So what's been going on. Nothing! Nothing that deserves a mention on this underused blog of mine. I have been on complete standstill since quite a while ago. And thanks to the soccer tournament everyone's talking about my insomniac habits have evolved, for the worse! I now sleep at 7am, instead of 4 in the morning. Great. I am really bored and I think I might need something new in my life. A job, a new obsession, a fresh revelation, a new computer game, a special individual, anything to look forward to. Something that will not exhaust my interest before I even know it. Is that possible? Since the very first time we got sick of too much birthday cake, we have learnt to become weary of things. We dread having the same breakfast every morning. We get bored of talking to the same people, about the same things everyday. We basically get disillusioned at doing the same shit all the time. So what do we never get sick of? It's subjective to different people, I know. But before I begin suggesting an endless list of possible things, I would like to question the existence of eternal, insatiable interest. Because there seems to be a certain threshold to the amount of something one can take. Too much food kills the munchies just like how too much sugar gives you diabetes. (Did that rhyme?) Even Madonna got bored of too much sex and had babies. Excessiveness. Routine, oh yes, routine. It is a number-one assasin that virtually murders interest. Think of it as a proliferating disease that slowly but surely contaminates your interest and kills it off eventually. The monotony of being the sole security guard in a closed shopping mall at night. A fish confined to the walls of its tank all its life. A lover to a partner who only ever talks about astronomy. And god I must pity the astronauts. What, on earth, is refreshing to do up there! Fighting aliens? Discovering a new planet? Okay I'm probably wrong, I know they do more than that. In the face of all the factors denying interest, what, or who, does it take to preserve our appetite for something? Actually there are signs that indicate the possibility of unceasing passion. Some reckon it's Love, while others say it's Sex. Whatever it is, even a burning libido can be extinguished with the wind of change and age. And personally I can't think of something I have always fancied since I was a kid. Too much is never enough. Is there anything in the world that upholds this phrase? What is infinitely interesting? rayve said @ 6:46 AM |
